Buddy Holly was active from 1955 to 1959. The Crickets were active from 1957 to the time of writing. A Texas born singer- songwriter, Buddy Holly was a pioneer of Rock and Roll. Although his success lasted not much more than a year and a half before his death in an airplane crash, Holly is described by critic Bruce Eder as "the single most influential creative force in early Rock and Roll".
