ROUTE 66

Welcome to Rock Mountain's own version of the famous

Route 66 that stretches all the way from Chicago to 'LA'.
 
Nearly 2450 miles long, it has been called the 'Mother

Road' and the 'Main Street of America'. Route 66 is the

stuff of legends, US folklore and popular history. It was

along this famous route, that so many travelled west to

California searching for a better life.

It was along Route 66 in the last century that so many legends were borne and adventures had 

by many generations, so many stimulated by writers such as Jack Kerouac, the informal 

spokesman of 'The Beat Generation'.  So many pursued their wander lust along this road - 

establishing a youthful tradition of wandering, that later would lead so many to Europe, Asia, 

Africa and beyond. Route 66 was also embedded in US popular culture by the song 'Route 66'
 
and the movie - 'The Grapes of Wrath'. Follow your wanderlust now and travel down

Rock Mountain's Route 66 largely follows the same route as its namesake and tracks from

Chicago to LA. But as it does it takes us through RM's mythical heartland, past famous 

landmarks in Popular music history and culture. Take a drive now down RM's  Route 66 and
