Big Surf Bells Beach 2011

Australia is renown as one of the world’s premier surfing destinations. Its 37,000km

coastline is blessed with beach, reef and point breaks which challenge the most

experienced surfers. For the less adept, there are countless easy-rolling swells that

beginners can paddle onto safely and with confidence. As a historical home of surfing

with many world champions and famous beaches, it is a worthy destination for those

undertaking the RM Surf Experience/journey. As Australia contains hundreds of

fabulous surf locations, we can only present a mere selective handful of the best. So let's

start from Queensland heading south and then follow a counterclockwise direction

around the continent.
The Atlantics - Flight Of The Surf Guitar
The Delltones - Hangin Five
The Atlantics - Bombora
Australia’s famous surfing waves are born from the Pacific Ocean in the east, the Indian

Ocean in the west and the Southern Ocean in the south .  There are literally hundreds

of famous surf breaks and locations from the iconic Bells Beach, near Torquay, the

gateway to Victoria’s Surf Coast on the Great Ocean Road to New South Wales with

Byron Bay, Newcastle, Sydney and its south coast offering spectacular swells.

And don't forget Queensland with Burleigh Heads, Snapper Rocks - the Gold Coast and

Noosa on the Sunshine Coast.  In South Australia, there are also great surf beaches

which dot the Fleurieu, Yorke and Eyre peninsulas as well as the Limestone Coast. In

Western Australia, Perth, Margaret River and Esperance are home to an abundance of

surf beaches. And what about Tasmania with its Southern Ocean swells in Hobart,

Bruny Island, Launceston, Devonport and Marrawah. Whereever you go in the famous

land you are bound to find a wave to yourself on Australia's uncrowded and pristine

coastal beaches.
Part One:

The point break at Noosa Heads on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland is one of the best

and most photogenic long-board breaks in the world. The point at Noosa is capable of

producing a genuine 200 metre ride on its best days. In a decent swell especially there’s

always a big crew of locals riding it who really know how to “walk the plank”, but

when it’s smaller it’s perfect for beginners – a long, easy-rolling cruise.

Snapper Rocks

Snapper Rocks in Queensland is a sand bottom point break considered to be a world

renowned surfing spot on the Gold Coast. Located at Rainbow Bay, Snapper is home to

the world-famous ‘Super Bank’, regarded in surfing circles as the longest, most

consistent and most hollow wave in the world. The swell here often reaches six to eight

feet, and one good, clean wave can transport you from Snapper to Kirra, a distance of

almost two kilometres. Snapper Rocks hosts elite international surfing events such as the

Quiksilver and Roxy Pro, Rip Curl Masters, and MP Classic. It is also a favourite

surfing spot of local world champs, Mick Fanning, Joel Parkinson and Stephanie

Gilmore, who enjoy nothing more than surfing their own ‘local’ break when they’re at

home.

Coolangatta on Queensland's southern border, is a famous stretch of coastline hosting

many fabulous beaches including Kirra, Coolangatta Beach itself and Snapper. Say
